Description
THE RUCKUS – OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
We did receive the initial green light to move forward, which is why we teased the announcement earlier this week. After that, the City of Cabot came back with a few additional considerations they wanted to walk through. Ashley and I met with Cabot Parks and Rec leadership this morning at 10:30, went through everything in detail, and addressed those concerns.
We’re happy to say we’ve officially been given the green light to move forward with a phased approach.
AGE DIVISIONS (IMPORTANT)
We will start with 8U only.
The city had some concerns about potential wall damage, so we’re starting with the younger age groups and evaluating as we go.
• Week 1: 8U
• If all goes well: 10U
• Then potentially: 12U
Unfortunately, 14U, 16U, and 18U will not be able to play in this format.

FORMAT & SCHEDULE
• 3-team round robin
• Each team plays 2 games
• 55-minute drop-dead games
• Game times:
• 5:30 PM
• 6:30 PM
• 7:30 PM
• We’re out of the facility by 9:00 PM
• Fast-paced — teams need to be ready to roll

THE FACILITY
• Beautiful indoor turf facility
• Climate controlled (around 70 degrees year-round)
• Arena-ball style play
This is about reps, fun, and creativity — not a traditional tournament feel.

RULES (READ THIS)
• Standard softball rules
• Field dimensions:
• One foul line: 200 ft
• Other foul line: 105 ft
• Same dimensions as the fields we played on in Texarkana
• Balls can be played off the walls
• Balls can be played off the net
• Ceiling is netted, approx. 25 ft high, and is live
Banana Ball Option
Each week, the three teams playing can decide together:
• If they want to play one inning of Banana Ball-style rules, 1 of the 2 games, or both.
• If not, we won’t
This is about letting the kids have fun.

This isn’t about rings or trophies — it’s about:
• Getting the kids live reps
• Giving umpires work
• Trying something new
• Having fun with the game

COST • Facility + 2 umpires + staff = $600 total
• Split between 3 teams = $200 per team
• Essentially $100 per game
There’s no profit here — this is strictly about opportunity, reps, and innovation.

• Expanding age groups (where possible)
• A summer league
• Potential weekend play
We’re excited about this. It’s different. It’s creative. It’s arena softball — minus the horse smell.
It’s officially Ruckus time.
